Day #339 - 7/12/08 - Where this leads.
This door basically leads to nowhere.
I just saw 'Wanted' with Val, Doug, and Anh Thu. Not really what I was expecting, but still good.
Hung out at my parents house for a while. I miss them terribly. I also had to go to the mall and buy new pants. I've gone up a few pants sizes and had a total of two pairs of pants that fit, and one has holes in the crotch and permanent stains. They're my favourite jeans ever, though and I've been trying for years to replace them and just can't seem to find them or a similar pair. They're the perfect pair of jeans!
My roommate is out of town so you know what that means? I get to do everything in my underwear.
I got home today and there was no electricity in my apartment. So the first thing I did was freak out and light some candles. I frantically called my roommate who didn't answer and proceeded to go through the pile of mail to try and find the electric bill so I could pay it right away so I could turn on the lights. I spent a long time on the phone with SDG&E, and they told me there was no problem and my lights should be working. The people in the apartment above us were leaving and they took us back to the circuit braker box or fuse box or whatever, and sure enough? Our switches were off. I don't know if that's normal for them to turn off or if someones just fucking with me.
Either way it sucked.
Slowly getting used to my new place. Things have definitely gotten a bit better.
I need a shower. And buy a mirror. There are no full length mirrors in this house!
The Comedy Carpet Blackpool
Created by artist Gordon Young, with typography by Why Not Associates, the Comedy Carpet is a celebration of comedy on an extraordinary scale. Referring to the work of more than 1,000 comedians and comedy writers, the carpet gives visual form to jokes, songs and catchphrases dating from the early days of variety to the present. Sited in front of Blackpool Tower, the 2,200m2 work of art contains over 160,000 granite letters embedded into concrete, pushing the boundaries of public art and typography to their limits.
A remarkable homage to those who have made the nation laugh, it’s also a stage for popular entertainment that celebrates entertainment itself.
The ?2.6m Comedy Carpet was commissioned by Blackpool Council as part of the multi-million pound regeneration of the sea front including vital sea defence works. It was funded by CABE (Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment) as part of it’s Sea Change programme.
